As a gamer, will I miss anything from Home Premium/Ultimate in Business?

no you wont. In fact i got basic so i wouldnt get all the junk like aero that would make vista even more a resource hog. Check on MS site the differences in the OS'es.... You basically get bull features with the "upgrades" and pay more for it (unless you consider media center useful). I got the basic, im a gamer and my machine runs great.

Finally, another gamer using a mobile workstation.

In my opinion, get either Basic or Business, because the media-loaded Vista levels will just fill your hard drive with bloatware that you most likely will not use.
Also, business has enhanced security features.

I'd advise getting Basic unless you already know you'll need elements of another version. It's really not worth paying for the more expensive versions.

That is, unless you're a gamer in the sense of Windows Hold'em !

Nope, unless you want to play any games that come with premium (such as majong :) ).

There's no reason to downgrade to Basic as Business is already included in the Vostro price. If you want to disable Aero, you can.

Actually if u love gaming then stay away from any version other than basic,
I personally find aero not worth the extra money..
Vista basic is cool & u can add-ons such as objectdock.
