Hi - not sure if this is the right section to be posting on but...

I'm looking for software that includes a universal database that will allow storage of information regarding a certain 'thing'. By 'thing' i mean literally anything - items, events, persons, animals etc.

The 'things' information such as details, file attachments, notes and dates (if applicable) are all recorded on a form. The program then allows reports be run from these forms. It would need to be fully customisable.

Is there any software out there that resembles this? Sorry i know this is a pretty confusing post

    Thanks in advance

Most any relational database will do that. If on widows use Access.

Yep, sounds like just basic database software.

Thanks for the reply. I have considered using Access but I found it quite hard to use and not customisable enough. I'm looking for something more customisable and designer friendly. Any other ideas?

Hey, whole businesses run on Access. Just buy a book on Access and learn it. It is one of the most customable data bases out there. Neat reports that can display any data in any way you want. If you run into trouble, there are Access forums to help you out.

I agree with Access. If you aren't smart enough to use it (I'm no expert), hire someone who is or search for prefab Access applications. There are plenty of them out there. Or you could give MS Works database a look, it's like Access with training wheels.
