I was wondering if anybody here own open office and the rest of the home and office software package they currently advertise on manay software site. I recently order the package, which was free and you pay 20 bux for the shipping and handling and I was wondering if anybody here own or used these softwares before. How does it stack up to MSoffice and other window utilities software in term of performance. Thanks in advance.

I've used open office before. My take is this. If you're a home user that doesn't want to dish out the cash for MS Office, it's a very nice alternative, much better than MS Works. If you're a heavy business user though, MS Office is probably a better fit.

To be more specific about what Brian said, from what I have read the features and compatibility of Open/Star Office aren't quite up to par with MS Office. Constantly coming closer though.
