    Hey,
I am just wondering if there are any Window Based Program that is similar in functions to the Beryl for Linux? I am think about making one, probably takes forever, but I did like to take on the challenge if there isn't one that already does a good job of it.

*I put this in Windows Section due to I am asking for a windows program and not Linux, thanks for understanding.

DesktopSpace for Windows provides multiple desktops. You can get it here. There was another thread in this section that linked to an earlier build of the software that is free.

The earlier free version can be downloaded here.

Update: There is a similar program known as Shock 4Way 3D which might also be worth checking out.

    Enjoy!

Just be aware that virtual desktops on windows are flaky because applications aren't built to deal with them properly many times, especially Microsoft Office applications. They don't deal well with the minimizing hacks that are needed to emulate virtual desktops in Windows. Otherwise, good luck!

But if you like Beryl, why not just run Linux and use the real thing? ;)

I used the earlier version of DeskSpace for a couple of weeks about a month ago and I never had any problems when rotating the cube with Office applications opened (I used one face for OneNote, the other for Firefox and another for WMP) but I guess experiences may very well differ.

And thanks for the rep PurpleBlondie, its always appreciated!

I have never used Microsoft Office, Word, Works or anything like that before. All my computers are just for entertainment. But yes, I do want to learn Linux at some point in the future. I'll probably try a live cd first. :D

Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind. =D

I do use Linux, not that often, but it is very complex and just installing beryl can take some time. Also, I game at random times and it's all depends on my mood, so I don't want to switch between linux and windows that often, it gets quite frustrating.

Thanks for the links Sub-D will check them out.

i used deskspace 3d without problems as well...however, as cool as it may is, i just cant seem to justify the reason why i need to use it besides the 'cool factor'

As live CDs go, I recommend Linux Mint. It's very slick and polished, and comes with Beryl ready-to-go (just find out which keyboard commands to use). I used it on a 2004-era laptop with integrated graphics and it ran nicely.
