Hi all! I am looking for a good, free anti-rootkit program. One that will not only tell me if I'm infected with a rootkit, but one that'll also remove the rootkit. I do a lot of downloading, so it's entirely possible I've got a malicious rootkit or 20.
Also, is it possible to manually check for rootkits? I have MSE installed & running, along with SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebyte's AntiMalware for spot scans. My system has been running extremely slow from when I got it on Sept. 3.
I'm running Win 7 Home Premium, with 6GB of RAM on a new Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890.
Also, how do I look to see what is also loading at start-up? Maybe there's a program(s) loading in the background that is slowing my rig down.
One last thing I failed to mention, when I try to launch IE (8), it sometimes won't launch. I'll get the hour-glass and it'll go away after about 5 secs., and nothing else. This will happen when I click the button on the taskbar and when I try to launch it in All Programs.
If any additional info. is needed to assist me, please let me know.
Thanks for any and all help!

AVG : AVG antivirus has root kit protection included..
as well as Avira
TrendMicro
you could also try out : Sophos
FSecure
to see what programs are listed as startup.go to Programs>Accessories>Run>msconfig
you could also clean up unwanted files and do a disk defrag
Anti-rootkit program.
