    Just wanted to know what software will bring out the best in this alienware laptop? Thought it would be something great with price lag but with factory setup just other laptop.

    Geez,that's a tough question.Its like asking "what's going to bring out the best in my Lamborghini Reventon?".
    Your Alienware is built for power,style & speed,it ultimately depends on how you want to use it.
    IMO,software-wise,its power & speed can be shown by simply playing the latest games at high to very high settings.
    All other software many people use for work also runs very smoothly.

    I am sure you will get a flock of responses once a moderator moves this to the the AW forum. As a generalization if the machine has a lot of bloatware and trials preinstalled removal/disabling will help performance.
    Probably the best thing to do is a clean install of windows 7 if you are comfortable downloading drivers and installing them.

    nortan antivirus is fine.... its the best you can pay for (i use endpoint and its the lightest weight thing around!)...... unlike McAfee which will trash your system the second you "think" about installing it
