I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a guide on how to use Adobe Gamma or write a brief one? I would like to know how to increase the brightness because my screen is practically unviewable outdoors in the sun. I have an Acer Aspire 5670.

If there is a guide or someone writes one, I think it would be a great sticky. Thanks all.

I don't believe Gamma can increase screen brightness, it is for giuding you to proper color balance and black point settings. Consensus is that it sucks for LCD displays though.

The only time I've found Adobe Gamma to be useful was when I switched my video card from nVidia to ATi. All my photoshop color balances favored red (ex: black and white photo displayed as red and white). Gamma fixed it. Shouldn't do anything for screen brightness, it's all about color balance, contrast, etc.

Alright, thanks. Is there any other way I can increase the brightness?

Have you tried going into display properties and the advanced settings? look for a color tab where you may find brightness, contrast and gamma sliders. I'm not sure what video card you have though and those setting may be under a different tab.
