The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Adjustable Window Transparency in Windows

    I recently tried to make the switch to Ubuntu...but, I'm too ingrained in the M$ way of life..."le sigh".

    One of the features I LOVE about Linux is Compiz-Fusion, and most specifically Adjustable window transparency.

    AutoHotKey Saves the day!
    Below is a link to a script that allows you to adjust window transparency on the fly.

    All you do is:
    1) D/L & install AHK,
    2) D/L & load the script (simply double click it),
    3) Hover over the desired window and press Ctrl+Shift and scroll up/down with your mouse!

    I have the script load at startup; simply place it in your Startup folder.

    I've attached a copy of the Transparency script, you'll have to change the file extension from '.txt' to '.ahk'. If you'd rather get it from the source the link is below:
