    Hey guys,

Is there any way to add movies or tv shows (.avi files) that I did not purchase off of iTunes onto iTunes? I did a Google search, and a lot of websites said that Quicktime has to be able to play the video if it were to be added to iTunes, and I installed DivX codec for Quicktime, but it still can't play some of the files. Any idea how I can fix this?

    Thanks,

    Hunter

I don't use iTunes, but can't you add the video's on your library like your music?

Also if you use Windows 7 you don't need DivX, Windows 7 already comes with it in both 32 and 64-bit flavor. Using DivX codec creates a conflict which does more harm then good. I suggest to uninstall it.

    I use:
    - Zune software 64-bit to manage my music, and sync with my Zune my video podcast and music
    - Fire up Windows Media Center 64-bit, when I want to sit on my bed and enjoy a movie with my remote I got for my desktop computer.
    - And, Windows Media Player 12 64-bit when I double click on a video/movie file on my system for instant play.

I don't think iTunes supports .avi for the most part. If you NEED them in iTunes you could convert them to .mp4 using a multitude of free/trial software

Handbrake. Then import them into iTunes. .avi won't play in iTunes or any Apple PMD.
