Whenever I log in to the program, it closes itself after about 5 seconds or so. When I try to restart AIM, it says the plugins may not have loaded correctly. I then load it in Safe Mode, but it still closes itself after 5 seconds. No error messages either.

    Help?

OR you can use trillian or Pidgin, those are both free and better then aim, plus you can connect to more then one messanging service

I'd try AIM 6.5. I installed AIM 6.8 on my old desktop and actually found it to be worse than AIM 6.5 - due to those plugins. It seems it basically adds a video player, maybe a music player - stuff that doesn't have to do with its base function. They cause it to crash - I got 8 minutes before it crashed; seems it is worse for you - and don't add anything to it if you're using it to instant message, as most of us probably are. After 6.8's crashes, I plan to stick with 6.5 for the foreseeable future.

I'd have to go with stirfriedsushi and recommend Pidgin or Trillian. I prefer Pidgin as it's been a little more stable for me (I've used it since it was still called Gaim) than the older versions of Trillian, but I have a lot of friends who use Trillian with no problems. Pidgin is fully free, while Trillian has a commercial version.
