    Why would do that?
You have to like reinstall Windows over 6 times within 3 month before the activation will fail, and a quick phone call to Microsoft Activation Center (toll-free number provided when the activation fails) to get it activated again. You just asked 2 questions:
1- What is your product key?
2- Did you install Windows 7 on another computer?

Passed that without issue, Microsoft provides you with a override code to activate your Windows. It's a 2min phone call max, and again should be VERY rare.

I was hoping i could use it to backup my pre-activated key, so i could install a bloat free version and restore my original key instead of using the key on the bottom of the notebook, but as i said i have not tried it out, just thought it might be of use to somebody.

Next time get it form a OEM that porvides you with a OS disk.

I like to order my laptop over Small Business for 3 main reason:
1- Better service at sales and tech support.
2- Ability to find a laptop with a non-glossy screen, meaning you get to see your work and not yourself, and you can work anywhere. Once your used to non-glossy you'll never look back.
3- Most of the OEMs you get the OS disk and another disk with the drivers, as they considered that you have an IT team. Also, most of the time, the system are crap free already, or at worst you have a DVD software player and/or some burning disk software which are full version so you can actually use them, and easy to uninstall, and again these are separated from the OS disk.. so no worries.

You don't need to be a business to order from small business, and if they ask.. then just say family business. They wont' say "no" to a sale, it's kinda silly.
