Trying to conserve space, so I'm combining these two questions into one post.

    1) My new computer has McAfee pre-installed, but it is a trial version so I downloaded AVG. Since then, with both AV programs the computer is a bit slower booting up so I'm thinking of uninstalling McAfee (since it will expire anyways), but am wondering if AVG is enough or if there are any free programs that I should install to supplement AVG that won't slow down my computer too much.

    2) The computer also includes a trial of Core WordPerfect Office; WordPerfect isn't trial, of course, but Quattro Pro is. I'm wondering if after the trial ends, how do I tell if I have any kind of spreadsheet program? I don't need anything extravagant--actually, I used Works spreadsheet and preferred that (if only because the "Text" option for numbers actually works; Quattro Pro seems insistent on translating things...I use it for my fantasy baseball team, so it won't let me type in ".298" or ".300" without translating it to "0.3"...any ideas on that?).

I do have Open Office, but haven't explored it that much. I'm assuming it includes a spreadsheet program?

    Thanks!

p.s. A question about forum etiquette: If I have random small questions like these, is it preferrable if I keep asking them in one thread or is it ok to start a new thread for every question?

As for your antivirus. You should not have 2 loaded, they are fighting each other the reason your comp is running slow. Go ahead and uninstall MacAfee. You should need a Spy/addware protection. I use Spyware Doctor. It is free to use, but you need to buy for auto removal. I'm just use the markers it finds and remove them manually.

As for as WordPerfect, Use OpenOffice, it will give you all that you needed. You need to save your wordPerfect documents in RIFT format before it expires or you my have problems importing them.

As for Quantro Pro you need to set the sell format to 3 decimal places (.000) and it want round up.

As for as posting multiple question. All of yours were all software related. You mainly need to seperate hardware/software/networking ... It am matter of preference if you want the responces seperated. Some times it easier to follow.

BTW, that still doesn't work: setting the cell decimal points. I'm talking about the "text" option in Works, which allows you to write ".300" and it won't--as in Quattro Pro--change it to "0.3", which both adds the 0 to the front and takes away the two 0s at the end. I can't figure out how to get around that...
