Hi All...
Now I know that this topic has been discussed at length here and elsewhere on the web. But I would like to have consolidated point of view from those who know better than me about matters like these.
My question relates to an article I read on Wired. Here is the link http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2008/08/google-privacy/ to the article. This, in particular, caught my eye:
"Google can know almost as much a snooping ISP could — which, is the case for users who install Google’s toolbar and don’t know to opt out of Google’s Web History program. And if Google does combine its third-party cookie information, with user’s search histories, with Gmail summaries, and with Google Analytics data, among other data sources, they would be a proper domestic intelligence agency."
I am also aware that a browser's habits etc. can be monitored regardless of the browser one uses. My question is, therefore, (1) how overt is this in the case of Chrome and (2) have any of you folks who are habitual Chrome users seen any effect of Google data mining your surfing habits and targeting ads or whatever towards you?
Thanks

well, personally, i don't care. i don't use chrome for other reasons, but i wouldn't be bothered about the datamining. as long as they don't mine anything while in "private mode".

Try Iron. It is Chrome without the spying and is faster
