If I get Windows 7 RC1 and just upgrade my Vista, can I roll backwards if I have a Vista 64bit DVD? It sucks cause RC1 starts to turn the computer off automatically March 1, 2010 every 2 hours and it expires permanently June, 2010. Kind of a pain. I probably won't want to buy it so can I roll backwards? With SSD, I don't have enough space to dual-boot.

You could try making a backup image of your hdd(w/o windows 7 installed) with Acronis True Image(trial should be fine) or Norton ghost(there are some free program that can do the same thing). Save it on a external HDD(cd/DVDS should also work) and then when the RC expires, restore the computer back to its pre-7 state with the backup image.

Also, if you just want to play with windows 7, you could try using an external HDD and virtualBox(or any other virtualization software).

Ya man, You can't undo the upgrade. They sorta warned you during installation. Your best bet is to do a Vista reinstall.

I haven't done it yet, surfasb, which you could tell from my initial post. I like the image idea. But I figured if you can do a quick upgrade (keeping all files, settings, etc.), you may be able to downgrade.

I remember Service Packs use to allow you to rollback upgrades. It would seem easy for Microsoft to create a rollback program, but I would question the urgency for it.
