I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional RTM x64 from Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 x64 and I have a noticeable amount of lag. Programs feel slightly laggier (Firefox scrolling, etc.) and NFS: Undercover is considerably laggy (almost unplayable on same settings). Is there something I should be doing to optimize this?

Did you experience this lag when you were using 7 Ultimate? Are you using the same drivers? Is your computer set on Power Saver mode, if so set to Balanced.

No, Ultimate was fine. Same drivers but ATI is 9.8 except 9.7. Plan is either Balanced or High Performance.

Try reverting to Catalyst 9.7 because it sounds more like a driver issue. Any time I do a clean install, things are always laggy until I install the proper graphics drivers but 9.8 may have compatibility issues with something.

and have you upgraded all of your drivers to their Win7 versions? Like Vista, Win7 can run older driver in a compatability mode but there is a heavy performance penalty to be paid.

As Win7 and Vista share most of the driver model, it shouldn't this time? (unlike xp -> vista drivers, which often didn't ran at all).

I experience lower performance than I had with vista, too. I updated all sort of drivers so far..

Most terrible lag is after coming out of hibernation. Up to one minute nearly frozen on the desktop, mouse movement at around 2 fps at most.

Lets see what drivers I can find.
