Are there any significant differences, apart from the differences in the 32 bit versions?
And where in the legality/morality field does using the download links provided in that topic here lie? (The ones direct from MS)?

Home Premium should be sufficient. I had Ultimate x86 and then went with HP x64 and saved a bit of money.

The links are fine to use, you still need to have the appropriate key.

I'm pretty sure the differences between 64-bit Ultimate and 64-bit Premium are the same as the differences between their 32-bit counterparts. Two things that stand out are the ability to join an Active Directory environment and the ability to make a disk image backup (similar to Acronis). Those are in Ultimate, but not Premium. I think there's better support for Remote Desktop connections in Ultimate as well. The big one though is the AD integration.

As far as the download links, I dunno. I mean, it's not like there are keys being distributed. It's just the media. People still need a legitimate product key to activate it. I downloaded my version of 64-bit Ultimate from the MSFT site, and used my own legal key for activation. I certainly don't feel as if I've done anything unethical or illegal.

If you want all thos ridiculous features for a premium price, get Ultimate.

But HomePremium(HP) should be more than enough and well worth the price.

Ridiculous features? You may not personally attach to an AD environment, but that doesn't make it a ridiculous feature. It's merely uninmportant to you. For some of us, it's essential.

Ok, thanks guys, I think I'll stick with HP; €110 for features I won't use isn't worth the ego boost!

Yeah, just pick the version with only the features you need or will need. If Ultimate has too many features that you won't be using, then you will just ended up disabling them.

Agreed. I got Ultimate because it was a gift to me, and there are tons of features that I don't use or haven't even learned to use yet.
