    Hey.
I got Vista on my computer but it only got 32 bit. Many games and other stuff need 64 bit so I was wondering how to get it?

    Plz help me ;)

well, you can buy it on amazon. you might actually be entitled to a copy of 64 bit vista depending on how you got your copy now.

but you don't need 64 bit vista. there arent actually any games or other stuff that needs 64 bit. its probably more of a hassle for you than its worth

Okej, not many games but im running some other programs like photoshop, and it says it's recomended to have 64 bit. Doesn't 64 bit give you better color?

well just cs4, and the performance ain't that better. I suggest you to wait for windows 7 and not waste moneys for vista 64 bit.

No, but 64bit lets you use over 3GB of memory. And it usually responds/works faster.

You can either buy it, or request 64bit recovery disks from the manufacturer.

All you need is the media for Vista X64, your license for X86 covers both versions. I am not sure what the situation in Sweden is, but here in the US we can buy the 64 bit media direct from Microsoft for only 10 dollars.
64 bit will not give better color as your display mode will still be 32 bit.

Heh! No it'll have nothing to do with color. But the 64-bit o/s will enable the multi core processor to help with complex editing and layers in Photoshop. I do CG animation for a living that's where a true 64-bit environment really shines with rendering speeds and high poly modeling.

If you have a Dell then you can request the 64-bit o/s disc through customer support or their community forum if you can figure out the mess.

Only the newest version of Photoshop (CS4) includes a 64-bit binary I believe... so you won't see much difference if you're running an older version.

Well, I wouldn't go out and buy a copy of 64-bit Vista if I had a working copy of 32-bit Vista... but if you can get a 64-bit disc for free (e.g. from your computer manufacturer) then you can reinstall and I'd say that's worthwhile... especially if you use stuff that can take advantage of it such as Photoshop CS4.

Some older versions of 3d modeling software such as 3dsMax 9 64 bit are able to take full advantage of the 64bit architecture and the technology that operates on it.
Photoshop's earlier versions lagging behind in this support is a fault on Adobe's part, nothing more, nothing less.
So fundamentally, there is older software out there that are 64 bit capable.

well, actually I did not know they can give it for free... it doesn't seem so in my eyes. All the online sellers over price the 64bit version, why they should give it out for free after you buy the 32bit version?

@shinyguyabout64bit: "i do this work as a living" uses a mac, not a crappy vista os :p
