I repeat, this is NOT because of shadowstorage or system recovery since I have just checked both of them, deleted everything they had, and disabled them.

Here's the problem at hand: I have a Sager NP8662 with a Seagate 320GB hard drive. I partitioned 43GB as my C:\ drive and the rest as other junk. It was fine for a good deal, until one day I realized I had only 10GB of space left. Considering I didn't install or move much there, I couldn't figure out why I had lost so much space, but it didn't bother all that much. Today, I restarted my computer, ran a chkdsk, and am down to 1GB of free space. I disabled shadowstorage and system restore, checked the temp files, etc. A CTRL+A of my C:\ drive shows 23GB in use. A properties check of my C:\ drive shows 42GB in use.

I'm using windows 7 btw. I did a bit of research and couldn't find anyone with quite the same problem that wasn't being caused by the two previously mentioned suspects, so I'm a bit clueless at this point. Never had this problem with XP. Should've stuck with that. Microsuck would be better off with just a 64-bit version of XP. Off-topic aside, this is becoming a real problem, so any possible suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Run CClearner for starters, some of those gb's might come from temp files. Also do you have show hidden files enabled ? Maybe you skipped a few folders with ctrl + a. Also i think ctrl + a is not quite accurate, since even mine is 4gb off.

They're not temp files, and I have already shown hidden files. CCleaner isn't doing much for me.

In that case (considering you cleared all the temp files and you have no restore points) your best bet is to get a disk analyser and check where that 10gb's go. Since its probably something you installed or copied on the disk. Doubt windows would "hide" 10gb somewhere else apart from those locations.

Try doing this. It really cleared up a bunch of space on my hard drive, it might help with yours.

You sure it ISN'T Shadowstorage? Did you disable it, reboot, then re-enable it? That cleared up a 30+GB difference for me.
