    I use yahoo for my home page with Internet explorer 8. Just recently noticed everything on the yahoo page being slow to load so I checked task manager and found that its using 100% of my cpu on the laptop in my sig. The cursor in the yahoo search box is blinking like crazy too. No other page I load is doing that. Also if I go to my yahoo email cpu returns to minimum usage. So the problem seems to be only on the yahoo home page. I use full versions of SuperAntiSpyware and Avira but neither are detecting anything wrong.

    What do you guys think? Is is a bug?

    Some flash on the page maybe?

    Can you try another browser?

    I tried multiple restarts but that didn't work. I installed Firefox and the yahoo home page cpu usage is back to normal. I might just stay with Firefox now. :D I'm guessing its a Internet explorer problem. Thanks.

    yejun, yeah but do you know why the Yahoo homepage is using up a 100% CPU only in Internet explorer? In Firefox I'm using 2 to 5% CPU.

    I uninstalled IE8 and reinstalled it but that didn't help either. It is possible that I had this problem for a while or even all along and didn't notice it.

    It's not just IE; Yahoo sometimes bogs down for me also and I use Firefox most of the time. Firefox doesn't do this on any other web pages when I'm browsing so I have to believe the issue is yahoo.com related and not my computer or browser.

    It could be a malfunctioning ad script - have you had any alert windows pop up saying that a script on the page is taking too long to run and asking if you want to terminate the script or not?

    I'm with moral hazard...I've seen flash objects bring browsers to their knees due to corruption in the flash activex

    download the flash uninstaller from here;
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

    run it, then reinstall it, and see if the problem goes away.

    I don't use either yahoo or ie8 normally, so I don't know why. But Yahoo seems fine today.
