If it still starts at 16GB, then I refuse on principle. I refuse to support any OEM that still thinks that 16GB is anywhere remotely CLOSE to acceptable in 2015. (Edit: *on a flagship)

Also, the 1GB of RAM in the 6 and 6+ is a major limiting factor. If you don't believe me... multitask on a Nexus 5 and then do the same multitasking action on an iPhone 6. Hell, even a Nexus 4 outperforms a $800+ iPhone 6+ in multitasking. That's insane.

1GB RAM? That does sound pretty stingy for an iPhone.

Well, apparently the 6S is supposed to have 2GB's of RAM and 32GB starting storage capacity. Who knows... Apple keeps things locked up tight.

With my Sprint plan, I get a "free" upgrade to a 32GB iPhone 6s (or 7, whatever it is called), so why not do it?

I'll wait until the mad rush dies down though.

Yeah I can't believe phones are still sold as 16 GB base....Lollipop and KitKat are rather large operating systems. Then apps, a few games, media and kaboom if you don't have a microSD slot, you are doomed. Thank goodness the Sony Z3V has 32 GB of internal storage and has a microSD slot.

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever get another iPhone again. The biggest thing was EVERY major Apple iOS update made my phone slower, or the battery got hella worse, OR both. I feel iPhones should just stick with the OS that is currently on (7, 8, 9, etc). That and the battery life eventually goes to garbage, and iPhone batteries were already smaller than other Android flagships, except for the iPhone 6+.

The 6S is supposed to have up to 24 hours of battery life, to compete with the Galaxy S6. The current iPhone 6 has up to 14 hours.

I'm never upgrading the iOS again. My next iPhone will come with iOS 9, and it will be iOS 9 until the next one. I agree with you about the updating... Something odd is going on there. As soon as I upgraded to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 (which originally came with iOS 7), issues started arising - the screen stopped working, software incompatibilities arose with my car, battery life got much worse, apps would randomly open, I would Tweet things multiple times in a row, etc.

Yes, I will be getting it, no doubt. My 5S is getting on in years. I've been getting the "S" versions since they started making them. I miss out on the excitement of the new design, but I get it eventually with improvements :)

Cupertino believes it doesn't require as much NAND storage for iOS on the device. Therefore the device in theory didn't need as much flash storage.

In theory, they're right. Apple builds, maintains, implements and rolls out it's own proprietary OS meant specifically to work only with their devices. It's not like the fragmentation and implementation nightmare Google goes thru with distributing Android to the OEMs. Apple could make OSX and iOS super optimized with a very small memory footprint. And I do believe it could work damn near perfect for Apple...If they could get their heads out of their butts and so worrying about backwards compatibility.

A little fragmentation didn't hurt nobody.

The problem is downloading an update, you need 40-800 MB free depending if it is a small patch or a large OS upgrade. I know plenty of people who wouldn't have the space to without deleting media or uninstalling apps.

I mean I don't believe the iPhone gets tragically worse battery life, but having like a 1500-1600 mAH battery doesn't help its cause. Honestly I would give up some thinness to have like a 2200-2300 mAH battery and have the battery last at least 1-1.5 days. At best being new my iPhone would last like 1.5-2 days of extremely light usage. Moderate usage it would get to 20% in 12-18 hours. At the end of its life, light usage would only get me 8-12 hours which really sucks. I was also adamant about only trying to charge it once a day, plugging it in when it got low.

Yeah my 5 just kept getting slower and slower, even closing ALL apps in memory and religiously rebooting once every day or every other day.

On a 16GB iPhone that's about 5% of the total memory...
Large but we've seen worse (dare I say Samsung)

Like I said, if Cupertino take the effort they put into marketing and focus it on OS optimization and UX design, they could leave Android in the dust.

I'm not even sure if I'll get another iPhone when the time comes to replace my 6 Plus. I mean, iOS is nice and all, but the cost of having a decent amount of storage is effing crazy. If the iPhone 7 starts at 32GB, then I'll consider getting one to replace my 6 Plus.

Hopefully battery life of the 6S is greatly improved over the 6.

I guess iOS 9 combined with the A9 chip = more efficient. We'll see... lol.

I can't help but laugh at the Apple pencil. It looks to be very gimmicky.

I also don't understand why the new iPad Pro will not be running the full OSX? If Apple really wanted to one-up the Surface Pro, they need do only two things:

    1. Run their full OSX on the iPad Pro.
    2. Stick a Wacom digitizer in the iPad Pro, and there'd be no need for an active stylus.

Those two alone would have the iPad Pro kill the Surface lineup quick as a flash.

I don't own any other Apple devices. The phone is the only thing that's not horribly overpriced compared to competition.

But yes, the "iPencil" :D is just... Well, it is what it is.

    I am :)

I will continue my tradition of getting the "S" phones. I've been using iPhones for over 6 years now. Things aren't changing any time soon.

This is also the first S phone where I felt the upgrade was fairly major.

I think going from iPhone 5 to 6S is going to be quite a nice jump, lol. Hope it lasts me just as long.

As of now, I expect it to last through 7 and 7S, then I'll get the 8 or 8S.

a friend gave me a 64GB Gold iPhone 6 and i let my GF have it. she bought me a 16GB iPhone 6 and i've been hating it because of the lack of memory.

i'm gonna wait for the iP7 to come out and then i'll just go back to upgrading from "S" to "S" after that.

I've been thinking about getting an iphone, as a typical android user I'm not sure so I haven't jumped in yet. I've been reading the reviews of the 6s and they don't seem to be that great. I'm also afraid of the battery life, I've been using a Sony Z3v which honestly has a VERY good battery life and I've grown accustom to it.

honestly, there's nothing really special about the iPhone besides it's superior operating system.

pretty much every other major competitor's flagship model(s) have better/more innovative (ha!) features on their spec sheets.

Is it really superior? As I said I haven't used it in the past more than just a few minutes of swiping through apps. What actually makes it superior? Why is it better, explain it unbiased to someone who hasn't use it but is thinking of switching to it.

Linus did a fair review of the iPhone 6S. He's a life Android user. Might be something you'd like to watch.

I love the phone. It's a huge upgrade over my iPhone 5. iOS is great, despite its minor annoyances. The battery life of the 6S lasts me at least two days of regular use. I've heard the 6S Plus lasts up to 3 days without recharging with high usage, but that phone is just too damn big for me. :)

Seems like a lot of the new Android phones are becoming more like iPhones, what with getting rid of removable batteries and SD cards; in that case then the hardware is hardly different. (The 3D touch feature is a cool new difference though). It is mainly a matter of the OS. And I just much prefer iOS.

Don't know if I can hold on with HTC any longer. The M7 was phenomenal, but it's been all mediocre since then and their market share reflects that. I may have to finally make the switch to the Galaxy.

i might not be the best person to ask this because my main phones have been iPhones since the first one came out. i have tried out a few within the last 5-9 years, but i always go back to the iPhone. it's the only product that *I* feel Apple did decently. i don't own any other Apple crap besides a couple of iPads.

there are 3 reasons why i stick with the iPhone:
    1) that's what i'm used to and what most of my friends have.
    2) iOS has a "smoothness" that i don't really find in other smart phones. u might not be able to tell with just a few minutes of use, but try out an iPhone for a week or so and then see if it feels any different for u.
    3) the resell market.

i haven't tested alot of newer phones from the other major companies so my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.

    Yes, it is.
    It's embarrassing.
    That's just sad.

It upsets me how far HTC had digressed. Apart from it's rinky-dink camera, I still love my M8. I can only hope the 10th iteration of the One makes up for lost ground.

RIM is getting very sneaky with this android powered BlackBerry. I, for one, will be watching it closely to see how well it does.

The only Android phone I was really interested in was the LG G4, due to it having both the SD card and the removable battery. I was also pretty impressed with the display when I saw it at Best Buy (in addition to the leather backing). I knew I was getting an iPhone, but if I had had to get an Android, that is the one I would've chosen.

That Droid Turbo 2 is looking pretty good. Shatterproof screen? I'll take one please.
