Hi, I need a budget tablet for eveyday use, without any particular requirement, apart a good portability, build construction, battery life and usability for what concern web browsing, a little of multitasking and so on (non gaming, no video).

I've the opportunity to buy a 16 gb version of amazon fire 7 (conver included) for just 40 euro... and I'm really attyempted to buy it.

Could it be a good choice or is it better to go for more expensive and quality models ?

    Regards, Stefano.

I have one and I like it. It's built nice and sturdy and for the price it's really a steal. Just keep in mind that the screen isn't the best at that price point and it takes a while to charge (no quick charging, not even 2A charging, standard 5W/1A plug). It has decent performance although I hate the Silk browser so definitely sideload Chrome. One thing that is annoying is it only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. We live in an area with a ton of interference on 2.4GHz channels so while I get 180Mbps on my phone on the 5GHz, the Fire runs around 35-40Mbps.

Thks, I know of the average screen quality but for that price I can close an eye...
The important things for me are performance in multitasking (no gaming) and battery life.

Have You installed the play store?

I haven't gone through all that hassle. The Amazon store has most things I need and everything else I either use my phone or sideload.

I bought 2 during the Christmas season - one for my mom and one for my dad.

I installed the Google Play store on my mom's - it was easy at the time due to the tablet still having the firmware that made it easy to do. Not sure how easy it is anymore.

If you go into it knowing that it was only 50 USD new, you'll be fine. It's not the quickest thing around but it handles itself ok.

My grandma has annoyingly stolen it as her own to play super casual games and seems to have no issues.

It isnt the best Skype machine around which is why I bought it in the first place - the mic is not as sensitive as I'd like.

I haven't had any touch response issues. I mean the UI lags because the screen isn't the best but it's plenty responsive.
