So there was a time I wanted to get a budget phone to hold me off until my next upgrade, so I grabbed a
    Xiaomi Redmi 4X phone.

    Positives:

    - Great Battery Life

    - The video camera has an option to pause the recording then resume when you want, that is an awesome feature instead of having to record multiple videos and attach them together, you can simply pause the recording.

    - Very good build quality

    - Awesome price for the features you get

    Negatives:

    - Bloatware, bloatware, and then some more bloatware. I have never in my life seen a phone that has so much bloatware, crap that I'd never even wanna touch like the Xiaomi Forum app and whatnot

    - Yes every phone has bloatware, but you can easily disable them. With the Xiaomi, there is no way to disable any built in app other than rooting the device which didn't work for me despite me officially unlocking the bootloader through Xiaomi's site

Now I know I may be nitpicking here especially when you consider how cheap the phone is, but the amount of bloatware they have is simply unacceptable to me and thus, I will never buy a Xiaomi phone again, ever!

To be fair there is bloatware on almost all phones out there, it's pathethic. Thats why CM exists, or rather the new name it has,

I know, but the thing is, on the Xiaomi, it is impossible to disable them unless you root which requires an engineering degree. I've tried for many days and nights, call me stupid, but I couldn't for the heck of me root my phone no matter what guide out there I tried ranging from forums to YouTube Videos. They all are showing you phones with slightly older software I guess.

also, bloatware on other phone is a bit more tolerable, it doesn't come in your way or workflow whereas in the Xiaomi, you keep getting popups from this and that up or from their stupid feedback/forum app it drove me nuts.

    Xiaomi, never again!

Odd Rooting is not that hard, honestly just use ADB to install root on your phone, that's basicially it.

Rooting works if the process has been made for it, if not, you have to make that process yourself. If that system is closed, like MediaTek is, you're not rooting anything.

What exactly is great battery life?

My current phone (Moto Z Play) has the best battery life of any smartphone I've had, curious what most people would consider to be "good" though.

If you need proper batterylife look no further than the lenovo P2.

@Phoenix: did some digging, the rooting for the phone is very straight forward. It's the same way you're rooting samsung phones. I'm not sure where you struggle, but all you need to do is to ADB install TWRP and then install via TWRP SuperSU. Where do you struggle??

I could offer assistance as well, since I did root countless phones in the past and this seems rather straight forward.

He wants a phone that can disable bloatwares out of the box w/o root like S9 or pixel phone.
He uses variety of phones such as, iph x,s9+, redmi 4x, Keyone, Nokia symbian etc....
My sis has a redmi 4x and all apps can't be disabled at all unless you root it.

I don't kknow about the others but S9/S9+ is also bloated. :( dno about the others since I never had any of them, but I'm sure they have some sort of bloatware on them.

I did install TWRP after unlocking the bootloader then tried to root it which resulted in a bricked phone. I then reloaded the official ROM from Xiaomi and fortunately all my setting and whatnot where intact.

I don't have the phone anymore

Your Xiaomi smartphone begged you to install LineageOS and save you both from built-in crapware, but sadly you ignored its pleas. If you did it, you'd never want a smartphone of different brand again. =p

If lineage made a rom for that phone then sure. I would suggest a lot more reading first though. Samsung phones are a pain to flash.

If you follow the instructions then its really easy. Odin,SD card and picoApps are the best combination to enjoy android on older devs esp. Samsung.

On at least the Note 4, you dont simply flash rom and done, you also need to flash a compatible modem alongside it, otherwise you dont get any communication out and/or drop calls etc

Yeah, that (and questionable design choices) keeps me from even considering one.
There are ROMs for N7000, but I personally didn't try any. Bottom line, you definitely can install one, but will have to research which one is better yourself.

@kojack then you're SOL. Your hardware is different from popular Galaxy Note 1 models and there is no LineageOS for your device.

    Hi,

There are also more important and convincing reasons why you should never buy a Xiaomi product or from similar companies, especially from China (maybe with the exclusion of Huawei, which can no longer be unlocked). Those reasons are absolutely horrible working situations, payment, rights, etc. Xiaomi actually is producing some of their stuff in North Korea (nothing too advanced ofc), the workers are handled like slaves. Going on the company doesn't care about our environment at all, they do absolutely nothing to save it, they even get rid of highly toxic stuff via several smaller sister companies they sell it to, this way they can even earn money with their waste. Greenpeace, who discovered all this, couldn't find out what is going to happen with the waste afterwards, they believe it is dumped into rivers, landscape, sea, sold to africa or somewhere else, ... Then there is the long shipping when you live outside of mainland china, which also isn't good for the environment and the like. Furthermore is the their Android one of the hungriest for personal data, doesn't get secruity updates, is in gerneral really unsave. Their products also have a really short lifespan (2y max), they saved money on the wrong ends an example is the cooling method of their notebooks, ...

Simply said, consider to always buy from a company which reveals all this and is producing their products suited in quality for the middle european market (highest quality produced in masses).

    Greetings,
    Logan

I feel the OP's pain. Just bought a Honor 9 Lite from Huawei and boy did it come with bloatware thankfully they was uninstalled easy enough apart from the swift keyboard app which I hate.

Getting a nice solid 2 and a bit days in this phone with light gaming video watching etc, spamming speed tests for LTE (4G) 90mb down and 35mb up. This phone is so much better then the cruddy Moto G 2015 edition.

There are many cloth manufacturers who let produce in a human manner, for example several let produce in germany and their products costs less of those who produce in asia and are also of a far better quality.
