I think we will see android phone makers start making small phones again. Thoughts?

Hope so. I think there is still a big market out there for small form factor phones. Been using iPhone 6 for the last few weeks, its form factor is just perfect.
It's a shame that in mainstream only Samsung offers few small phones and that's about it, the rest of the market is flooded with shovels. Back in the day Sony used to make good compact smartphones.

Agreed. I love the size of my 8. It's the best size in your hand.

    Hehehe... :D

But if serious, I'm waiting to see how battery life is on 12 mini, and if it's worth the 880 Euro asking price :O
If not, just gonna get SE 2020

The market doesn't really agree on the small form factor comment, they have never done well compared to mid or full size phones that are contemporary to them but then you stamp an Apple logo on a dog turd and the cool-aid drinkers will buy it so I'm sure it will sell just fine.

It will also drive android makers to make similar yet underperforming turds as well! ;)

They've been making them off and on all along which was the point; they've never done well but Apple might do better since they have a group of people that will buy any turd they drop. That isn't BTW all of Apple users we're talking about when we discuss turds, just the ones that buy mindlessly for the brand.

Yes I know. But every mobile turd I owned running android always had stability and performance issues, while the "turds" from apple were fast smooth and reliable. My issues with my iPhone 8 were because of my Sim card, not the phone. My 11 started doing the same thing so we swapped to a new Sim card and it's fine.

I miss small factor phones... The convenience to take it out of a pocket, pop a few messages using one hand, check some stuff quickly and make a call, and then put it back in.
I get that "media consumption" is better with large shovels, but there are people like me, who treat their phones like a communication device first and foremost, and just need a small, reliable and functional phone.

I went from LG V30, which is a pretty feature rich phone even to this day, to iPhone 6, which aged quite a bit. OLED screen, AOD, better battery life, ultrawide angle camera, better performance - these are some of the features V30 has and I miss, but...but the convenience of small form factor device just overshadows it all.

While I agree with you 100 percent @killkenny1 , I am really enjoying my iphone 11. The camera on it is Crazy good compared to my 8.

People say that about windows too, it crashes and various other problems. I haven't had a problem with it since XP, maybe it was 7, been long enough I don't remember exactly where it got working without issue. Same with Android, I was there on day one and it wasn't always pretty but it's been years now since I've had an issue. Mrs Krab has always been iphone and still is and if anything I have less problems than she does. Anymore I think most people find whatever confirmation bias they need to stick on one side of the fence or the other. For me Apple was never a consideration; I like doing things my way and setting my phone, tablet, PC, up exactly the way I want is important. That leaves Apple an answer to a question I never asked.

I have own my fair share of Android devices, still do. I'm not some apple Kool aid drinker. The issues I have with Android is its not smooth and fluid, my iPhones and ipads are consistently much faster and smoother than my android devices. The other thing is app quality. Sure they are free on android, until all the ads pop up everywhere, and they are not as polished as they are on ios. I miss windows phone greatly. The best mobile platform out there. If they just held on to run pwa apps I would still be using it. Every app was coded to look the same. Same fonts, design language etc. Everything just flowed correctly. The closest I can get to that is iphone.

I don't see that, keep in mind I'm always on the latest flagship but my phones are never less fluid or smooth than whatever Mrs Krab is using which is always going to be the lastest iteration of the iphone. Realistically the only place where I see Apple doing it better is in messaging/texting. For some reason Google cant figure out that most people just want this basic functionality to work without hassle and not have to use 3 different apps to get it done, just baffling to me. It's easy enough to work around but you shouldn't have to and you don't on the iphone. On the other side of the coin the assistant is massively more effective than Siri and that's a real added value. These two things are all that stands out to me in actual use with the rest of it being largely subjective. The app gap doesn't really much exist in use anymore, both bases have far too many users for developers to ignore. Some marginal apps with few users will see iphone apps with a throwaway android version but that's pretty rare anymore. Ads can be found on both sides of the house and you can pay up to get rid of them on both sides of the house. It's amusing to me that some people buy an app on apple because their is no free version but don't on android and then complain the free android version has ads but continue to use it anyways instead of paying for the app and getting rid of the ads. It ignores the fact that one way or another in this life, you're paying.

As to MS, I started with them and Palm before Apple and Android came on the scene. To be honest what stands out to me looking back at early smart devices was that it felt like quite the parlor trick getting an email on the move, we've certainly come a long way since then. The new MS phone was something I never got into much because it didn't offer me the customization that I crave. I liked it better than the iphone though because I thought the work flow was better. I would have in any event preferred they stick around just for the added competition. It would have been harder for Apple and Google to get in bed together with their search agreement as an example.

After using 12 mini for almost a week I gotta say - its form factor is great! The best one I had so far. Hope it sells well and Apple, and maybe other phone manufacturers, will see that there is a market for smaller phones.

Reading through feedback on why people buy iPhone SE 2020, it seems like a major point is its size. And I agree 6/7/8/SE 2020 form factor is great. And for many people it doesn't matter that it's an outdated design and for this price one can find a better option. The handling convenience alone is worth it.

12 mini maintains the small size without compromising features. Now I wouldn't buy it for the price it retails in my parts (almost 900 Euros), not worth it in my opinion, but since I was able to get it for the price of SE 2020, it's a pretty great phone.

That just a regular 6s next to it? Wow it’s small. I am all in on faceid now that I have been using it, when you use Apple Pay with a mask it asks if you want to pay by passcode which is perfect. Nice phone...I love the small form factor. I could not wait or I would have bought two of those.

Close -it's iPhone 6 next to it :p IIRC they look identical though
And yeah it's small, but since it's almost bezeless design it's still pack a pretty decent size screen for its form factor. I can reach pretty much everything without stretching my hand or readjusting how I hold a phone, except for L/H upper corner.

I'm glad I waited, this is almost what I wanted. But you also got a pretty good deal on 11. After all, the best phone or camera or anything really is what you have on you right now.

Exactly. As you might have seen in the post in the dell section, I am creating a docu-series about an extinct first nations people who lived in my area in the 16-1800's. For the pilot, I am using a combination of my iphone 11, and my two fuji cameras. All will be in rigs with Rode microphones, and I will have both off camera and on camera lighting. I will be in the woods/near rivers ALOT. I want to tell their story because it is both tragic and fascinating. They were very advanced for their time in the way lived.
