    Hello,

I'm looking for a tablet that can handle usage under the sun for long periods of time. This will be used for data collection under field conditions.

    General
    1. What kind of device are you looking for (phone/tablet/both)?
    • Tablet
    1. What country are you in?
    • US
    1. What carrier(s) are you interested in (or will you pick the carrier based on your choice of phone)?
    • tablet may or may not have sim. I'm fine either way.
    1. What mobile OS is acceptable (Android, iOS, other)?
    • Either one.
For Android phones, what release do you consider acceptable as a minimum?
    1. How long do you intend to keep your device?
    2. Are there any brands you particularly like?
      Dislike?
    3. Will you consider a refurb/used device?
    4. Do you intend to play games and if so, what?
    5. Do you expect to watch video extensively?
    Basic Device Characteristics
    1. What size screen are you looking for? You can be specific or general.
    • as little is 8" is acceptable.
    1. What are you looking for in battery life/capacity?
    • something that could last 8hrs screen-on time
    1. Do you want a replaceable battery?
    • is there a tablet that have this feature nowadays? It would be great if there's one.
    1. Do you want the ability to use a microSD card to expand storage?
    • Definitely yes!
    1. Do you have a preference between a USB-C and traditional USB micro-B connector?
    • either one would work.
    • Do you want a 3.5" headphone jack?
    • not really important if it has one.
    1. Do you want wireless charging?
    • Not really.
    1. Do you want fast charging?
    • yes, but fine either way.
    Aesthetics
    1. Do you have color preference:
      Prefer? Any color.
    2. Other aesthetic preferences?
    • Aesthetics does not matter as long as it's solidly built.
    Camera and Screen
    1. Do you care about the device's camera?
    • Not so much
    1. Minimum megapixel requirement (front/rear), if applicable?
    • just the bare minimum for the rear camera for documentation of experiment.
    1. Do you require 4K video?
    • No
    1. Do you require AMOLED or similar screen technology?
    • The screen will expire very fast if it's AMOLED. Are there other technology that meets my needs in a tablet?
    Other
    1. Are there any other features you particularly want in a device?
    2. Are there any particular features you do not want?
    3. Do you anticipate rooting your device (if you don't know what that means, the answer is "no")?
If so, any particular ROM you're interested in?
    • Maybe if the tablet is too slow with bloatwares installed.
