Im getting off laptop gaming for a while until I see something I like. Which for now is basically nothing. Probably just going to build SFF desktops again when I figure out where I am in life etc etc

Anyways, I am looking for a companion to my Plex server. While hooked up on ethernet I can stream 35Mbps videos no problem to my phone via AC. With that I guess my m4600 is sufficient.

    Now onto the tablet.

I have a Galaxy Tab S (T-700) but its really choppy on browsing plex and also doesnt have 5GHz AC. I figure ill make that my typewriter with a bluetooth keyboard but for now it does just fine I guess.

I would like to find recommendations for a 10ish inch tablet that has at least 1080p panel, 5GHz AC, same or better CPU of the Tab S. Custom ROM support a plus but not required.

The tablet that really caught my eye was the Huawei Mediapad m3 8.0, US models have 5GHz disabled but can be re-enabled through some root process. Though the issue with it is its not 10 inches. But can be found for 225 which is very appealing.

Budget around 250 USD. Im okay with used/open box/new and am ok with Amazon/newegg/ebay US for purchase. Just trying to get an idea of whats a decent tab for that price point.

    Thanks in advance!

Get a refurb air 2. I have tried a bunch of tablets and it is probably the best I have owned.

Ah my apologies I should've mentioned that I have no presence in Apple space. Android only.

I have also been looking at 2in1 from China, there was a couple that look appealing but like 10 inch tablets I don't know what to look for.

The Huawei Mediapad m5 looks nice but no headphone jack kills it for me altogether.

Onda I guess then, cheap...does the job. I have been through the whole android tablet thing. NOTHING beats my ipad at being a true tablet. Had the surface 3, while being better at creating, working etc, it was not as good at being a tablet. I had a couple of acer tablets, they were ok, but again, not near as good as my Ipad.

I don't know of any great android tablets. Other than expensive ones. I will state run away from anything ASUS. Other than that, they are pretty much all the same.

I guess I'll just get the galaxy tab s 10.5, root it and put lineageOS on it.

Don't have to worry about screen quality and speakers are good enough. Both the 8.4 and 10.5 have dual band AC so it's likely I have a weak signal.

Can be had for less than 100 on ebay.
