As many of you may now, one of the reasons I've always had an Android phone and never kept an iPhone for more than a week is that after buying the iPhone, loving it for a while, when the time comes for me to sync my data, I just wanna tear my head apart and end up selling the phone, I despise this iTunes POS app.

Reason being, try searching for example: "how do I copy my photos to my iPhone using iTunes" and you would gets 10s if not hundreds of guides and most of them are outdated as the process changes with every iTunes update.

    So here is what happened...

I just got an iPhone X and tried to iTunes v12.7.3 to sync my music and photos. First, it was very tricky for me to have the music synced until I figure out hot to add the local music to the iTunes library first. Not very straight forward but oh well, I managed to get it done after reading some guides.

Then I tried syncing my photos, in the past, when you go to the Photos tab under your iPhone, there is a sync all or specific folders, now that's gone in the latest iTunes. So I hit sync, nothing happens! It just finishes instantly and no photos are copied. I researched this a lot and couldn't find an answer until I stumbled upon Snycios and what a breeze it was, it opens up an Explorer like interface just like you have in Windows, you simply click add folder or file and navigate to the photos folder that you want (or any media for that matter) and the syncing starts instantly and what's even nicer, it actually retains the folder hierarchy whereas with iTunes it puts all the photos under one folder making it very hard to find a specific photo as opposed to have them neatly organized in albums!

Next, while I was using iTunes, I would go to the tones tab in iTunes then try to drag my tones which are in .m4r format but they won't transfer neither to the library nor the phone giving me this little black circle with a diagonal line across it (as in, NOT ALLOWED). When I tried this in Syncios it was as simple as selecting the folder of my tones and they were copied instantly!

Syncios is free and works 100%, you don't need to upgrade to the paid version as the free version supports copying and deleting your photos, music, videos, ringtones to your iPhone just fine.

I DID upgrade to the paid version because my wife who also got an iPhone X last night with me told me that she backed up her iPhone 7 then tried restoring that backup onto her iPhone X and it just gets stuck at the end and never finishes and even herwhatsapp is not working so I bought the paid version of Syncios as it has a one click phone to phone transfer which supports a transfer from iOS to iOS devices and even from Android to iOS devices.

Finally! I can use iPhones without the crappy iTunes or having to research every simple task I wanna do!

Also, you don't even need to install iTunes or iCloud for Windows anymore to do any syncing which installs a spying software called Bonjour (telemetry app from Apple) that sends all your usage habits to Apple and causes a significant slowdown on your PC AND internet speed.

    Download Syncios

I am trying to figure out how to sync my photos, videos etc with onedrive. I know My camera does it now, but I don't want to shut off my full icloud drive unless I am sure that it's saving there too! I think im ok to delete icloud photo storage, but 100 percent not sure. ha ha. any ideas?

Never used the auto upload feature on OneDrive.

Here is how Phoenix operates [IMG]:

    1) Turn off auto photo upload to iCloud

    2) Empty your camera roll by cutting/pasting the DCIM files into a folder on your taptop. You must uninstall iTunes for you to be able to access the iPhone as a regular drive and then you can see the DCIM folder which contains all your photos/videos

    3) Organize those photos you just copied into folders like, family, friends, personal, etc. Same for videos,

    4) Now that your iPhone is empty from any photos, use Syncios to copy those folders and retain their folder structure (albums that is) for easier organization rather than having them all thrown into one folder (Photo Roll)

    5) On your taptop, copy those same folders to your OneDrive / Picture and Videos folder(s) respectively

This way, you have a backup on the cloud, Apple doesn't have your photos AND best of all, they are all neatly organized.

Every week or two, I go to my DCIM folder, cut/paste the new photos and organize them into their respective folders and copy the new ones to the iPhone in their correct folder using Syncios

    Be organized...be like Phoenix.... [IMG]

I use apple music daily, I cannot un install iTunes. My photos are being synced now to onedrive automatically. So, I guess I just shut off icloud photo sharing and I am good to go. That way I don't get those goddamn icloud storage is full notifications anymore.

So just installed MS Onedrive and turning on Camera upload works on iphone w/o hitches? Because iCloud is so small than MSO. My mom switched from Lumia to iPhone.
@Phoenix If I had to rep your already rep'ed posts, For This I'll give 1000 reps, since iTunes is cumbersome to sync every thing. SynciOS is the best alternative I have come across. It was a pain in the neck to create a custom ringtone and often it played the ringtone while playing music and mom rushed to take a call. Hahaa.

I'm going to try this software later to see if it gets around the iOS 11 bug of "system" storage usage increasing at an exponential rate for no obvious reason. The condition must be related to iTunes because I bought a new iPad and used iTunes to put on some videos on it for my son. It was in short order that I noticed "system" taking up more than 3 GB of space on the 32 GB device. My iPhone has never been connected to iTunes and there's not even a "system" entry under storage.

Most likely its the telemetry and Backup photos/video blob file that keeps track of which photos or vids were uploaded to iCloud so that those are excluded while uploading new ones. Use Wondershare safe eraser to gain/reclaim wasted space.

I don't think so because my phone completely backs up to iCloud, and there is no system entry taking up any space. I did a restore through iTunes, set it up as a new device (so no restoring from any backup), and disabled Apple telemetry, but within a day, that unknown system storage was back.

Disable iCloud Photo storage and if it says delete existing ones please delete it. Before that, take a photo backup just to be safe.

I can try that but I doubt it will work. Here is one of several threads on MacRumors showing that this is a rather substantial problem. I asked there if people who are experiencing this if they've connected their devices to iTunes at any point.

I disabled iPhoto cloud sharing on my iPhone and ipad, and my wifes iPhone and ipad. Both use onedrive. I pay for that anyways, so why always get pop ups saying would you like to buy icloud storage. NO, I don't want to. ha ha. Onedrive with 1tb worth of storage is great. I just uploaded EVERY photo I have to it, I will thin out the garbage later, but it's good to know all my kids photos of them growing up are safe now.
