I am looking for a low cost service, and inexpensive cell phone. I have researched quite a few and PureTalk Low Cost Cell Phone Plans: Affordable & No Contract Cell Phone Service seems very good for my needs. Samsung Flip phone is free, Flex plan is $ 10/month for 160 minutes that can be rolled over. (talk and text but no data - I will not be web surfing, streaming or emailing anyway) ... Activation appears to be free also.
anyone have experience with this company or other recommendation?
Thanks for all replies! Josea
Note I am in S/E PA so coverage area appears good also. If you go over 160 minutes you get "cut off" so no overages, I doubt I will ever use much more than 100 per month.
this is a link to the phone I like http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-a157-...8&qid=1421108946&sr=1-1&keywords=a157+samsung

They appear to be GSM-only which leads me to believe that you'll be on AT&T network. For the price quoted - no I haven't read the small print - I don't think you can go wrong.

    My $0.02 only...

I might get something along those lines - service plan, not the phone itself - for my daughter if your experiences turn out to be decent, so please post back once you've actually become their customer...

You can also do Tracfone if it works in your area. They have simple flip phones and you can usually get them for free off of their website. A 1 year, 400 minute card costs $100. Most of their phones now triple those 400 minutes so you end up with 1200 minutes, and 1 year to use them. You can get the Moto E right now with a 400 minute card for $120 which makes the phone $20, when you use a smart phone then it gives you 1200 minutes, 1200 text messages, and 1200 mb of data. If your using a non-smart phone then the minutes and text are in the same 1200 number, but you get 3 text messages per minute. The moto E is CDMA on the Verizon network. But they also have GSM phones on AT&T.

So far I am very happy with Puretalk after 20 days. texting and talk work great. I got 50 extra minutes for 1st month. Battery life on the phone is very good. (I have left it on standby since I got it, and I have used about 80 minutes and gone through all the screens to get familiar and battery is still above 60%). No call drops and everyone said my voice is clear on their end. Tech support was good via phone when I needed help with voice mail. I purposely used all my minutes and was cut off before the initial month ended ___ NICE.
Thanks for the alternative Syndrome, if things sour In 1st 14 days I may go Trackphone.
