    They are probably trying to recoup some of the losses from the Note 7 debacle.

    Samsung outta bundle a free Note 7 (with safe new smaller battery) as a free pack-in with the new Note 8, just to distribute the electronic waste the Note 7 represents evenly across the planet instead of a single landfill back home ;)

    One of the Chinese smart-phone manufactures could bring out a rival for half the price, Samsung seems not to realise what competition means, Normally you reduce the price not increase it.
