    I have heard about the apple black hole of text messages. How can I stop this but still use an iPood touch to have imessage and facetime for my son?

    I have heard that if you move to android, and do not shut off certian settings in your iphone first, your texts will not be received hence, the apple text message black hole.

    Oh, okay.
    Probably either have to disable iMessage from Settings -> Messages or remove your number Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive.

    Ok, that's the first thing I will do. I am not able to send texts to my friends who use android phones from my iGarbage now.

    I think there is an apple website you have to go to and enter your cell number to turn off imessage, otherwise other IOS users who text you will still send through imessage and fail.
