My phone keeps giving me notifications about buying more icloud space and not being backed up. Is there any way to stop this?

No. I stopped using iCloud and just Hit No or use mobile data all the time.

I got tired of the constant 'not enough space to backup' so I went into the settings and turned off almost everything to back up which significantly reduced the backup size and saved me the hassle of managinng it all the time. Instead I use other apps to automatically backup my photos and docs (OneDrive and Google Photos).
