I'm currently using an iPad 3. The things I use it for are:

    1) Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Youtube
    2) Kindle Reader
    3) Secondary external monitor for my MBP via Duet Display.
    4) Light web browsing.

I'm wanting a bigger display for use case #3 above, so I'm considering getting a larger tablet, specifically a Surface Pro 3.

I see a number of them on eBay for decent prices, and I was about to pull the trigger on one when I read a review that the battery life on the SP3 is not that great. However, the problem with taking that criticism on face value is that battery life is largely dependent on what you are doing. For all I know, the reviewer was trying to run Photoshop, writing up a paper in Word, and doing some number crunching in Excel all at the same time. Which wouldn't even be unreasonable given that the SP3 is basically a full fledged PC in tablet form.

However, my tablet uses aren't any where near close to intensive, IMO. Would I be happy with the SP3's battery life given what I would use it for?
