Apple has switched their photos to some proprietary file type that windows can't read. You have to go into the camera app and force it to jpg etc. I took a bunch of photos thinking I could use them from onedrive.....nope.

It is heic right? The change was done in iOS 11 and upwards. If you have Faststone viewer or irfan view it will work. Win 10 Photos app is buggy and by the time it opens I'll be old!

I have set it Auto. Earlier iPhone converts it to jpg (Most compatible setting) but it was unusable with corrupted metadata when I opened it on W10.

I always used Faststone image viewer which worked flawlessly w/o codecs.

hmm.. That's odd since Onedrive includes the codec and also Apple has the codec baked in!
