Sound like an nice new Soc , I would love to see more specification but i cannot find anything more at the moment.

Having everything in one chip should save some battery power, and that is the number one consumer improvement that people want to see.

Having everything in one chip is a major driving factor in heat too though. I'll be watching this one closely since the Note 5 is so far the only device on my radar this year.

The specs say Ram and Storage, 3gb of ram should be possible, but does Storage mean flash memory is on chip as well, I wonder how much they can fit on it, is it just for the OS, so your normal 16gb or 32gb can be for your apps, data totally.

Given the generally trend, I'm more and more inclined to believe this is not true. People only blame the battery life when their phones die. When they go on the market for the next sexy looking phone they quickly forget it, and go for the super thin model on the huge banner ad at BestBuy.

People who frequent this forum are power users. The vendors probably have much better statistics about the behavior of average Joes and act accordingly.

They should get some college students to do a study to see if that`s true of the general public, we on nbr and other electronic orientated forums look beyond mere beauty to the specifications or do we, i certainly do.

Have you see though weird extended battery`s that replace the back cover or you clip your phone into like a case, some make the phone three times as thick and twice as heavy, battery life seems very important to those people.

I'm aware of those options. There are also rugged Android devices made for outdoor or industrial use which tend to have much larger batteries.

The aftermarket extended battery packs do show there's a market for more practical long battery life devices, unfortunately not a big one. It's something much smaller than the enthusiast market, not to mention the mainstream market.

Mainstream vendors sometimes do try to offer options. There's was a version of Xiaomi that had two official battery packs. But one generation later they gave up as well. Apparently the big battery option never took off.

Another problem of using optional extended battery packs is you can't replace the camera this way. If someone just designed a thick phone from the ground up a much more powerful optical system could fit in. With optional extended batteries, the chance is lost.

I used to want one of those, but now I just settle with a low spec phone when I'm traveling. The performance is more than enough for what I must do on the go anyway.

Many years ago when smart phone was not a thing yet, I used to have a phone advertised to last 3 months on a charge (mostly idle ofc). It was legitimate. The same company had a larger model which claims 300 days. I'm not sure if that's realistic. Imagine the horror if I was introduced to the "rush to charge your phone every night" concept at that time.

Did you ever see that Russian made smart phone recently, with an standard lcd display on one side and an e-ink display on the other, they both show the same information, just the e-ink is grey-scale and for slow moving graphics.

I've been waiting for news on ePOP and it looks like it's finally coming. Qualcomm was the first to embed the modem and the cpu/gpu all on the same die. It was just a matter of time before they combined the dram, the storage, and the controller all into one solution.

3 GB of RAM these days isn't anything special, and the 810 coming out in the OnePlus 2 will have a rumored 4 GB. I hope it's 64 bit and can use more than 4 GB of RAM.
