I googled and as far as i can tell android does not support ntfs, but if you are rooted you can install an app to make android ntfs compatible.

On XDA a member said lollipop was ntfs compatible, but nothing happens when an WD 2TB usb hdd is plugged into my tablet, if i plug in an usb flash stick then the stock file browser opens automatically and shows the usb flash drives contents.

    So is lollipop NTFS compatible?

    Thanks

    John.

    It does not support NTFS.

Get total commander and the USB stick plug in and you can read and write NTFS without needing root.

That seems to work, thank-you, though it spots my root and askes to use it, but i am doing this for my brother-in-law that does not have root, but it seems to work without root.

I figured you were asking for a way to do it without root :) Glad it works.

I have root, but my brother-in-law does not, and he is the one who wants to connect his usb portable hdd to his tablet so he can transfer his video`s/Music to it.

I bought a couple of powered otg cables for only £0.82p each from china and they work great.

    Thanks Again

    John.
