I don't know that it is right to include the Surface Pro 3 in the comparison since its actually an x86 ultra portable rather than an ARM-based tablet. It obviously is going to win across the board since it is the only one that has a desktop operating system.

Still though, I like my first generation iPad Air. I couldn't find a use for the Surface in my life since I have my laptop and a desktop as well.

Not necessarily. My sister, for example, she doesn't care if it's x86 or x64, in fact she doesn't even know what the hell that is. She just wants an oversized phone to run those silly applications. I actually think something like SP would be too much for her and she would hate it because of the way Windows 8 works on tablets.
I, on the other hand, feel like Android/iOS tablets are lacking in features and that was the reason I went for a Win8 tablet.
    Different devices for different tasks.

Unless part of what you want out of a tablet is tablet-optimized apps, in which case, Windows is a very distant third compared to iOS and Android. I know; I basically use my VAIO Duo 11 as a tiny laptop instead of as a tablet because there are almost no good tablet apps for Windows. Netflix, the Halo twin-stick shooters (Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike), and Xbox Music are the only tablet apps I use with any regularity on the device.
