    Hi.

Some video i play on my Android TV Box will only play in software and this uses a lot of cpu and it gets hot, I cannot read the cpu temp i have tried all the apps and none of them work with my Rockchip SOC.

I just want to know if my cpu is throttling due to temperature and causing jerky video playback, if it is i might try to improve cooling or use a cpu adjuster app.

    Thanks

    John.

Afaik for the CPU tuning you can try the Kernel Auditor, But you will be needing SU access to manipulate the CPU frequencies and governors, And apart from the top end devices which have full XDA support for full SoC control all others only can tweak the max/min clocks. Also apart from Qualcomm no one releases proper binaries and src with a dedicated CAF branch, So I guess you might have no to limited options.

I don't know whether the Android TVs can be rooted, Shield apprently does have the root. Try XDA, If nothing makes out better ask for replacement I guess.

    Good Luck.

My cheap TV box came rooted, I bought 2 of them, they are called MiniMXQ but some video`s will only play with software decoding mainly 1080p 10bit H.264 and H.265 HEVC video`s and they can put all 4 cores up to 100% i just want to know if this is causing my cpu to throttle, I cannot monitor the cpu temp i have tried all the app, none of them show the core temps.

I have been trying to find an app that will overlay the cpu usage, I just want to see a number, the ones i have used just use a bar varying in length.

On MX Player i can set it to only use 3 cores so it should not throttle, and Kodi has a drop-down windows that shows cpu-usage drop frames ect.

    Thanks for your response.

For overlaying the CPU usage there's Intel App for that, My friend knows about it, But his timezone is night now. Will update post when I get that info. This App has extreme overlay of graphs...

There's this app called CPU Stats by Panecraft inc, but shows only on Status bar, Maybe try it...
