    hello guys!

i recently got a notice from my Firewall app saying it blocked some sort of Jolt2 attacker that's trying to make my CPU operate at 100% speed.

is it some kind of vulnerability in Microsoft OS? How can i fix this problem?

    thanks

Here's the relevant description from Sophos:
Some of the aliases for this virus are listed here. According to the iss.net database, jolt2 is a fairly old bit of malware.

There seems to be a bit of confusion in this thread, jolt2 isn't malware or a virus. It's an obsolete DoS attack, current and patched versions of windows are not affected. Alot of firewalls have a habit of misreporting what's actually happening, it's unlikely that anyone would be trying to DoS you with a jolt2 attack and more likely they were just hitting you with a standard packet flood.

You don't need to worry about jolt2 being on your computer, it's an external attack, your firewall would stop it and even if it got through you likely wouldn't even notice. Virus scanners have the slightly annoying habit of listing 'hacker tools' as trojans or viruses (even ones with legitimate uses like nmap and Cain & Abel).
