I am doing my first scan with kaspersky. After installing vista sp1. The scan is on its 4th hour, and 88 percent done. It seems that files like "C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows..." are taking forever. It seems to scan 1 item per second on these. Any ideas?

Kaspersky scans my XP machine in about 15 minutes.

Under Settings, Power and Productivity Options, you may have items checked which are slowing you down.

there is nothing called "power and productivity mode"
my comp was on ac all the time - no battery
if it's slow ONLY during certain files, it is obviously not power

Click on your Kaspersky icon in the tray, then click on Settings (green check mark is just to its left). On the screen which pops up, near the bottom/middle is: Power and Productivity Options.

Perhaps it won't be of any use to you, but it is there.

I probably shouldn't bother responding to you because you're obviously being sarcastic. Also obvious, is that you've right-clicked on the Kaspersky icon and then chosen Settings. That isn't what I suggested to you.

Left-click will bring you to the Settings page - click ( left-click) on "Settings" and you'll be taken to the page I've been talking about, and by doing so, trying to help you.

A screenshot from me would show you what I've been trying to describe to you, but, at the moment I'm on a Linux machine and, considering your last response, frankly, don't feel compelled to walk ten feet to the other machine in order to send you a picture. This is my last post in this thread; good luck with your problem, Travis.
