umm... well i like NOD32 and avira...
but because you are asking this question, i can't help but to think you are planning on pirateing (since you are specifying scanning the downloads)...

So, that is wrong (hurts business) and against forum rules.

If you want to know how to have decent and free security for any kind of files (not specific to torrent files), check my post on my signature.

As for help with torrents, as said, this forum does not approve of pirateing and therefore you will get little help here (and yes, I know that torrents can be used for legit downloads such as Linux distributions).

Any anti-virus would be sufficient, you don't need to do anything special. For media files you don't need to worry, some software you might have to. Just be smart.

If your going to download a torrent, make sure to get the torrent of a website where people are allowed to rate and comment on the torrent. Usually if there's a virus quite a few people will mention it in the comments. If it's only one or two people they might just be doing it to screw around with the downloaders, but to be on the safe side, scan the file after you finish downloading it.

There are a few free AV programs, any of them should do.
