    Hi

I recently purchased a acer spire 4339-2618 14” from best buy

That had 60 day Mcafee security installed (I didn’t realize or read rather the full details of what was installed. So I purchased NORTON 360 ( I like using Norton). I am going to wait till the trial expiration before I start using Norton 360.

To uninstall the Mcafee Security software (completely) once it expires I can just go to control panel and use install/uninstall software correct? Or is there anything more I have to do? I just want to make sure everything is clear for installing Norton 360.

    Thanks

In my personal experience, I simply went to control panel and used install/uninstall option to remove that piece of Bloat.
I would recommend you remove McAfee immediately and just use Norton instead.
Your laptop will be grateful to you.
McAfee is a virus in itself.

I'm with Deks-dump McAfee now! I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials. Norton has started to eat resources just like McAfee so if you use Norton's and see your cpu usage go to 100% you'll know what it is.

Yep, use the tool McAfee is a real PITA to remove. Even if you uninstall it, it will leave traces in the system if you don't use the removal tool.

The newer versions of Nortron are noticeably better than back in 2009 and shouldn't eat too much resources.

You may want to use Microsoft Regedit also and clean out all registry entries of mcafee and any installs-removed, I have using this approach for a long time and never had a problem, if you feel uncomfortable, backup your registry first,,I dont, never a hiccup,,

    Cheers
