hey guys.. a warning screen falshed today when i started my comp..

it said "ubb.exe is not a valid win 32" kinda thing..

though i found out it to be a malware (of course through google :) ) n ran malwarebytes to get rid of some unwanted stuff..but i still wonder whether that took care of this ubb.exe or not..

another thing is how did i manage to get this creepy thing in my comp..why didnt avast rang the bell.. (usually it used to whenever i inserted USB sticks..now it doesnt do that also.. untill i ran a scan.. )
n how to make sure to not get these things in comp..?

You probably already read this in-depth analysis about UBB.EXE

    http://www.prevx.com/filenames/2300122847496750541-X1/UBB.EXE.html

. I can recommend downloading and running SpywareBlaster at startup.

. Avast, and any other AVs, cannot always block ALL threats. Surfing safely is the best preventive medicine.

And please do not bump for 24 hours per forum rules.

You've simply run into some very recent nasty malware.
    Have you tried Prevx?
On Bleepingcomputer there is a hit also, so check that page.
In order to prevent USB stick-infections, at least make sure to disable "Autoplay" for external media with a program like TweakUI or follow these instructions.
To avoid other stuff coming in through drive-by downloads, check out NoScript for Firefox, Sandboxie or Geswall.
And remember what Padme wrote, not one program will protect you against everything.
Surf safe or even safer with the programs mentioned (and always have a backup).
    Cheers.

    How would we know?
Because it's crap. Buy a better one.
    See above.
Use your head while surfing, and don't install/run/download every shiny thing you see. Make sure to scan every CD/DVD/USB stick you insert in your system with at least 2 anti-crapware softwares. Download MBAM, SUPERAntispyware, and a-squared. They're all free. Scan your system with them, one by one, and if none of them show anything malicious, I think your system is fine.

:) and i promise to use my head all the time while surfing.. but as far as i recall, most of the time my PC gets infected by inserting USB sticks.. not from net..
