    Hi Guys,

i opened my HDD n found all folders become shortcuts.. did some google and managed to unhide the folders back..but the shortcuts are still there..
i have been using avast n malwarebytes but when i insert the hard disk, none of these caught the virus or gave the signal. avast caught few when i ran a scan.

could you guys pls guide me on how to remove the shortcuts from the drive?
i have attached the screen shot below.

    thank you.

Don't all shortcuts have the extension .LNK in Windows? if so you could scan the drive (using search) for all .LNK files (*.LNK) and then highlight the results list and press delete. Of course if there's shortcuts on there you want to keep you'd have to manually sort through them and delete only the ones you want gone from the result list.

that sounds like a trojan virus that somehow has been given permission to enter your drive and now continuosly multiplying.
try a virus scan in safe mode but if its like the one a friend had on his drive i mannaged to clear over 230 spread viruses but there was 1 that couldnt be deleted and as soon as computer was booted again they spread like wildfire.

sadly then the only way to make the drive safe again is to nuke it.
