If anyone has had kaspersky internet security, how would you rate it? I don't think it is well known, but it has won several awards. We purchased it from staples and would like to know how good it is

I like it just fine. Small footprint, great options to turn off stuff that annoys you, I paid $30 CAD for the whole Kas Internet Security 6 and was given a free upgrade to 7. As opposed to ~$70 for Norton or other big names. The ONLY gripe I have, and it's a common gripe not just with Kaspersky, is even if I close it, it still cause my source games to stutter. This was not a problem till a few weeks ago after a Steam update though. Maybe one day Steam will fix it... until then I have implemented my own fixes that seemed to do the job :)

I have Internet Security 7.0 and I just love it. Like this so much I've installed in on 4 different computers. The virus detection rate is awesome, much better than all those other brand name stuff.

Kapersky IS actually very known and famous, it has won a lot of antivirus awards so.... yes it's a good antivirus, but I don't agree with Thund3rball, it's footprint is big, way bigger than other antivirus software like NOD32 wich is as good as Kaspersky...

Maybe it's a bigger footprint than NOD32 but that's not saying it's big. Norton, McAfee etc... are WAY bigger. If I was at home I'd tell you what it is right now but I can't.

Also are you comparing Kas Internet Security vs Eset Smart Security or Kas Internet Security vs NOD32, because NOD does not have all the same features (Firewall etc...).

NOD32 is very good as well I'd buy either Kas or NOD and give my money to whomever is cheaper :)

:) to say the truth... I don't use any kind of antivirus system...
I know what sites to avoid, what not to download and that's all...
    I never got any virus...

I have KIS loaded on three machines (2 desktops & 1 laptop) and it seems to be working great. No slow downs and updates are frequent. I found a coupon code online and Kaspersky ended up costing me $35 CDN back in October '07 for 3 licenses.

I'm trying Nod32 for 30 days on my new notebook (see sig) and may go with that or just buy another license of Kaspersky. Kaspersky is great and they have a good support forum as well.
