hello , at uni we always have to plug in and out our USB flash drives to exchange info with our lappies
and our unis pcs are full of viruses :D
anyway i want to ask 2 things :
1- is an updated nod32 enough to protect my laptop against viruses transmitted by usb flash drives ???? i mean without scan or anything , because nod32 have a real time protection , wich mean it will scan anything u are using (i think)
2- if i get a software wich speciality is to protect a pc against flash drives viruses , will it work without updates??? because if i need to update that too i should stick to my regular antivirus

If you get a flash drive with U3 installed onto it, you can get AVG for U3 edition. When plugged in, it checks for updates, and scans the host computer, and if any viruses are found, I believe it locks the USB from reading/writing, and asks if you want to eject your drive or continue working.

Yes, it is more than enough. If you have an updated NOD32, with real time protection enabled, it'll work. When you'll insert a USB drive to your system, the NOD32 will automatically check it, and if there's crapware on it, it'll get detected/quarantined/deleted/cleaned automatically.

You can also use Panda usb vaccine, it is a free app from Panda antivirus that allows you to disable the autorun feature in windows as well as on USB flash drives. Disabling the autorun on USB drives comes in handy to stop those pesky autorun.inf worms/trojans that spread via usb drives when you plug them into computers (eg. conficker etc). Here is the link to the the download.
