My laptop shows a black screen?
somehow I had a virus on my laptop that's running on Windows 7 professional. logged in to safe mode, ran the spybot S&D, the Ad Aware SE and also the AVG anti virus scan (avg had to be run through DOS in safe mode). When I log in normally after that I do see the log in screen, it says "worm.skynet" virus is in the system, you have to run a full system scan, but just shows only a black screen and doesn't go farther than that. How can I fix this?

I'm sorry the actual virus was "Worm.Win32.Netsky"

I also get "Internet Security 2010" shortcut on my desktop. I don't see it in the list of Programs when I wanted to uninstall that!!

Hi, I'm not an expert, try doing a search for "worm.skynet" that may bring up removal tools.

You probably don't have that worm at all.
From your post it seems you have a fake/rogue antivirus program called Internet Security 2010 installed.

That program is likely giving you the message about the Worm.Win32.Netsky infection.
The goal of this program is to make you pay for non-existant infections; it's a scam.

    You can try to restart your computer in 'safe mode with networking', like in this picture;

When in 'safe mode with networking' go to Malwarebytes.org, download the free version, install it and update it.
Run a quick scan and let Malwarebytes'antimalware remove any infections.

Be warned, do not give any personal details, money, credit card and so on to the ROGUE/EVIL Antivirus/Internet Security. Your money will vanish with a blink of eyes.

By the way, you can Google to see how Rogue Antivirus works.

Stop promoting AVG. It sucks. :) :) :) Facts? Check Antivirus Comparisons and the detection rate as well as the resources usage. AVG is rated to have low detection and high resources usage(slowdown system).

Do not recommend someone to do a "reformat" or "reinstallation of OS" in the 1st place. It's effective and good for some people(included me). However, it can be nightmares for certain people too.

If he/she doesnt have any important files on their laptop then formatting would be a good idea. These are some good AV's though:
    *Eset
    *kaspersky
    *norton?
    *avira
    *Avast
There not in any specific order, just random ones filled with my .02 cents.
Might wanna try comodo firewall to, theres a free ver.

As baserk suggested, try booting into safe mode and installing MBAM. Run a complete scan after its fully updated.
Another option is to download Hitman Pro 3.5 (pls google it). Its a multi-AV-engine "cloud" scanner. You require an active internet connection while scanning.
If it finds an infection, just activate the free 30 day trial license to remove it.

    Good luck.

AVG got a top rated review by Chaz. I might have to look into this.

Those reviews. I will rudely say they're lying, indeed.

If you tried, AVG, Avira, Avast, Norton and Kaspersky and so on. You will know that who's lying and who's reliable.
Honestly, if you give me AVG Premium Internet Security Disc for free too, I won't take it. Simply, useless.
I will change my mind, if only AVG do something out-of-the-box(better performance and higher detection rate).
