I just installed KIS 11 and had the most aweful moments. I can barely open 30% of websites that I usually go onto. It blocks everything and today it did this.

Check the attachment. Now I must say KIS sucks!

I've always found KIS to be a little psycho. Try NIS 2011...it's smooth and quiet.

Check your settings and make sure it's not set to maximum or the most secure setting - Kaspersky tends to be a paranoid castle when it comes to security.

I was always scared from NIS and have a stereotype view that it takes a lot of resources.
    Is it really good?

Ya, believe me, nobody hated Norton more than me. I was actively searching for that dude they used to have on their boxes with the glasses. I wanted to impale him.

But NIS 2010 and 2011, they are beautiful, so to speak. Lowest resources as far as I can tell. I can't tell if it's doing anything, which is just the way I like it.

Why is parental security turned on?
I mean... if it's your notebook... - or do you lend it to a younger sibling? In which case I understand you use it.

    I really don't know.
I was going through google and searching for NIS 2011 and then downloaded from the link that I got first. I think I got the ING direct oem one.

As someone said earlier you can turn Parental control off & it stops all that nonsense.
Try Eset Smart Security if you get sick of NIS.
Be a cold day in hell when you find me putting NIS anywhere near another PC

I got KIS 2011 free from my bank, as i use online banking, it can really be a cpu hog, but it does not miss a trick.

Have you tried scanning your system fully once?

And I have a suspicion which bank you use :D must be the same as mine ;)

I do a full scan every few days, but KIS does it`s own scanning when cpu usage is low.

I got my free KIS 2011 from Barclays, I also got the free KIS mobile security for my cell phone, but it does not support android yet :(

Barclays :D so do I :) 2 as well - one set of 3 licenses for me, one for my mother.

On that note though.... after some minor run ins with 2010 and especially the boot slowdown caused by their firewall I moved to MSE - and use that since.

Last time I looked at the calendar it was still only 2010! So my question is how can any of these AV programs call themselves 2011? :p

How do they know what viruses are going to be out there next year........ unless of course they know the people writing them :D :D

So what do all the programmers do now, now that they have finished next years AV programs. Do they all go for a holiday at the Bahama's or do they all do a little moonlighting to ensure they all have a job next year  :D

On a serious note - I am using Norton 360 and Nortons Ghost. I have used Norton ever since I discovered I didn't want to have another virus and I have been very happy with their service. The only time I got a virus after I switched to Nortons was 2 years ago after not being connected for a week (I was travelling) and I started updating my virus definitions and downloading my mail at the same time. My mail won the download race by just a teeny little bit and then ............

Norton quickly informed me of the virus, and provided clear accurate instructions on how to get rid of it.

I gave up on Kaspersky after 3 years of loyalty. I just clean installed and put everything back. I installed Kaspersky in the end.. slowed down my shut down speed by 3 seconds and about 3-4 secs for boot.

I'm trying MSE 2.0 Beta and I like it so far.

I tried to sell my 2 hours used 2010 on eBay and Kaspersky UK reported me (I honestly didn't know it was illegal to sell used - I removed everything from my PC). Even more hate.
