for those that have a valid kav or kis 7 lic you can now download the new 2009 version and imo IT IT SIMPLY AWESOME. honestly i think this is the best suite i have ever used to date. its SUPER LIGHT and runs wayyyyy faster than ever before.. for kas users you know.. i can now do a full scan of a about half full 250gb drive in under 15 min's after the initial scan.

no more chkdsk issues. they have re done the i swift and ichecker so the chkdsk function is not affected any longer.

the new firewall is simply awesome for a built in suite one.

all you need to do is re-use your version 7 key code or lic code, if you want to you can simply uninstall the old one and save the lic info when uninstalling and then it will already be there in the 2009 version.

well anyway here are the links straight from the kaspersky servers:

    for kav 2009 english: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/TR/KAV/kav8.0.0.357en.exe

    for kav 2009 russian: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/TR/KAV/kav8.0.0.357ru.exe

    for kis 2009 english: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/TR/KIS/kis8.0.0.357en.exe

and for kis 2009 rusian: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/TR/KIS/kis8.0.0.357ru.exe

this is the "technical release" but this is what will be released to paying customers as the "release" version. this is info straight from kaspersky people.

i have beta tested this all the way through and can say the changes made are as i said simply awesome imo. this will also allow a 30 day trial from what i am told. enjoy

Why is it incompatible with Comodo Firewall when K7 allowed it?

After using K8 for a bit I like it, nice update from 7 :D .

    Thanks...

I'd also point out (for you on a budget or plain cheap) that at amazon you can pick this up for $14.99 after rebate. $39 before the rebate....

    http://www.amazon.com/Kaspersky-Int...sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1211351580&sr=8-1

And NO this is not an affiliate link... lol....

1 to 3 computers and all... basically, I think kaspersky is fighting with MS.... MS has their program offered for free after mail in rebate....

Search "onecare" on amazon for that link. I like onecare, but obviously kaspersky is the "Cadillac" of antivirus.

Now the new version is out.... and it only costs $14.... seems to be a no-brainer....

KIS has spyware, firewall, spam, and parental controls over just the AV.

I don't normally have issues with programs, but KIS messed up my outlook 2007 and my browser (IE 7) while on xp. I tried disabling some stuff in kis, but figured at that point it was not worth having it installed if I disabled everything... even messed with the settings.

Not sure what happened. I've used all kinds of programs in the past from zonealarm to comodo to avg to onecare to norton, etc, etc...

In one of my virtual pcs, I was testing version 7 (current version not beta) and had to uninstall that as well... it kept locking up my browser.

How light is this version? I used KIS like 2 years ago and I found it a heavy on system resources since I only have 1.2GB of RAM and a 2Ghz P4.

    ZFACTOR,

I decided to try this. Your enthusiasim for this version helped me make the decision! I don't have a key & the site only has V7.0. So...do I buy the 7.0, get the key, then uninstall the 2009 version? I hit your link, thinking it was an information or readme thing and when I got back, the program had downloaded! I'm very new at this stuff and want to do it right. Would you email me on how this works??

Does anyone have an issue that every now and then Windows Security will pop up down by the clock and say Kaspersky is reporting that it's turned off, when in fact it isn't.

    Very annoying.

That didn't help :( I guess I can just disable Windows Security Reminder thing, but that is just a band aid fix IMO.

I just saved it to my desktop and installed it from there straight over the top of 7.0. I figured it would have asked me to uninstall the previous version if it wanted/needed to. Looks like a good package.

    Regards to all.
