It's a good program. I used it for a year when I got a free subscription to KIS2009. Some of the features are very advanced, allowing for significantly more control over security vs. Vista's UAC, firewall, and Defender. Though it is because of this I only recommend it to advanced users.

It has a good detection rate, but it can slow down the system a tad bit.

I wouldn't be using a security suite which slows the system noticeably.

I have KIS 2009 installed on a desktop. With all features enabled, it sometimes renders the system unresponsive for a while. For example, when doing a Quicken one-step update with lots of account, Firefox freezes. I've had to disable Online Security, Content Protection, and proactive self-defense to avoid performance hits. I also have had to do a lot of tuning in the application list to exempt some applications from monitoring by KIS to avoid other slow-downs.

In effect, I've had to strip KIS down most of the way to the level of KAV. The anti-virus component seems to work fine (based on limited testing).
