So with all those little tools like firesheep, cain & able, faceniff,.. i wonder whats the best way to prevent those little sniffers?
SSL doesnt seem to be safe enough.. so i thought about installing OpenVPN on a V-server and use that (e.g. as proxy in browser/mail/chat).
I also wonder what e-mail client & addons you guys use.
I normally use thunderbird & gmail accounts (which encrypts with SSL.. but ye thats not really secure?).
A firewall like comodo doesn't seem to be any protection.
thanks

SSL not safe enough? How, exactly?
Edit: never mind that. Well, if you're THAT paranoid, a VPN would help, but then again how would you know that the VPN server or its connection are secure?
For Firefox, I use HTTPS-Everywhere for additional security.
Regarding firewall, what does that have to do with secure connections? -
well its my own v-server and i configure the vpn server.. so i would make sure that it is secure?
ye a great addons for https-everyhere is "https-finder". is dedects https on some sites and creates rules for https everywhere.
how to prevent sniffers?
