i need a good antivirus program that's compatible with win7 x64 and an SSD, doesn't have a large footprint for resources, and yet is quick, and effective. I'm leaning towards NOD32, but i'm not sure if i'm misguided. It also has to be able NOT to interject when gaming.

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

If you're willing to pay, then, I will suggest you these Internet Security. NOD32 isn't that great, you can check the latest Antiviruses Comparison.
    Kaspersky Internet Security 2010
    Norton Internet Security 2010
    Avira Premium Edition

    If you want FREE, here.
Avira Antivir Personal 9(I think you're using now and it's the BEST FREE AV after MSSE)
Microsoft Security Essentials(MSSE, I heard you have problem with it)
Avast! Home Edition 4.8(Weaker than the 2 above and heavier resources too but have more features than the other FREE AVs)
AVG Free Edition 9.0(Ignore this seriously)
Comodo Internet Security(I don't know about it but probably won't beat the MSSE and AAP9)

i'm willing to pay, my budget is up to $150 / license.

If i have to reformat, do i need a new license #, or will the same license work so long as it's the same computer?

With USD 150 you can have a lot of licenses, not just 1. :D
My country sell 3x PC Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 with USD 30.
While sell 3x PC Norton Internet Security 2010 with USD 35.
1x PC Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is about USD 20.
1x PC Norton Internet Security 2010 is about USD 24.

1x PC's is not worthy. 3x PC's is BEST BANG OF BUCKS.

Please do not buy it from the either Norton/Kaspersky official website. The price stated there is overpriced and overrated.

I used to love KIS - but 2010 is a mess, and while on a HDD the impact on performacen isn't too large, I'm sorry to say that KIS 2010 + SSD is a bad idea as KIS just slows it down
I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials for SSD usage.

(I also miss the advertisment blocker from KIS... :()

    Edit:
And Microsoft Security Essentials is free too :)

Just use one of the free ones. Norton MackAfee et al will only hobble you computer. HDD constant churning, slow boot and shutdown. Waste of money IMO.

    NO! WRONG! NO! AVG SUCKS!
NO matter which version, either PAID or FREE. AVG STILL LOUSY.
    GET RID OF AVG. :D :D :D

Norton IS currently have low score/benchmark on latest AV Comparison.
Kaspersky IS boosted up! MSSE is GOOD!

My current problem with KIS is that 2010 slows down your log in... I wonder if its not fully Vista compatible - or not 100% only say 99% compatible :(

That's why I wouldn't recommend to buy KIS at the moment - if you can get it for free though :) (for example from your bank) then go for it :)
